Komorebi

Komorebi is a Japanese word with no direct translation, describing the delicate play of sunlight filtering through the leaves of trees. It evokes a fleeting, ephemeral beauty, a moment in which shadow and radiance co-exist in fragile balance.

This notion strongly resonates with the spirit of The St. Regis Venice: a place where history and modernity, light and shadow, tradition and vanguard meet in a state of perpetual equilibrium. Just as Komorebi reveals the hidden nuances of everyday perception, this exhibition seeks to illuminate the subtle dialogues between art and the living environment of the hotel’s living spaces.

Taking Komorebi as its guiding concept, the exhibition explores how contemporary artists capture, transform, and translate the elusive qualities of light and shadow. Rather than monumental gestures, the works presented suggest atmospheres and sensations that emerge in quieter registers, resonating with the theme of the 61st International Art Exhibition of La Biennale di Venezia, In Minor Keys.
